Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad: It Takes a Lot of Hard Work to Make Grooming Look This Easy
Meet Rising Star and Paragon Certified Professional Pet Groomer Alyssa Beharry of Pet Supplies Plus in Fort Myers, Florida! It’s been a privilege to watch Alyssa learn and grow throughout the program. Now she’s a grooming force to be reckoned with, and we can’t wait to see what she does next!
Her mentor, Priscilla Wall, adds, “Alyssa smashes her tests out of the park! Her scissor work is gorgeous, and you can tell she always puts her effort into her grooms.”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming as my career because I always knew I wanted to work with animals, and I’ve always been very artsy and creative! Dog grooming allows me to put both of my passions together into a job that I love!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
So far, I have really enjoyed getting hands-on experience with my in-person mentor; she has been so kind and extremely supportive, especially on hard days! I’ve also really enjoyed getting to try different methods and learning tips and tricks for more difficult grooms!
Where can we see your work?
Currently, I don’t have any of my work showcased as I’m still getting started, but I hope to make an Instagram/TikTok in the future!
What are your future goals?
I would love to one day learn different grooming styles, such as Asian fusion!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Remember that it’s not as easy as it looks! It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, as well as patience! You won’t be amazing immediately; it takes time and practice!
