Meet Rising Star and Paragon Certified Professional Pet Groomer Maggie Ryan of Petsense in Madison, Indiana! Maggie is an independent learner and razor-focused on making sure she gets things right before continuing. She has an amazing work ethic, turns in excellent assignments, and we cannot wait to see what she does next!
Her mentor Suesan Watson shares, “Although Maggie was one of my quieter students she made great impressions with her work. She did well on each skill, showing that she was not only reading the material well she was also able to apply what she read, along with feedback from her work on each skill. As she completes the Pet earlier than her dates, I know she will do well as a groomer for her salon. Well done, Maggie!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose this career path because I love animals and want them to feel and look their best. I also enjoy working with the people around me and improving my skills day by day.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I absolutely loved working on the more difficult tasks such as stylized legs. I struggled and struggled with it but the satisfaction and the gratification I got from improving my skills and making them look the way they were supposed to fueled the fire and made me really buckle down and want to improve my skills even more.

What are your future goals?
My future goals are to become so good at grooming I can compete in dog grooming shows and events!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Work slow, make sure you’re confident in yourself and don’t crumble when you get something wrong. Instead, take it as advice on how can you improve yourself to be better.
